Paphos weather in November: what to expect
The weather in Paphos in November still lets you combine walks with swimming: the average is 23°C by day and 13°C at night, and the sea stays at around 23°C. At the same time, there is more rain.
01What the weather is like in Paphos in November
In November Paphos averages 23°C by day and 13°C at night, with 58 mm of rain over the month. The daytime warmth is still good for long walks, but after sunset it is already cool. Compared with October, it gets cooler both by day and at night, and there is more rain. November continues the shift towards the wetter part of the year: in December the temperature drops further and rainfall rises again. Don't count on dry weather for the whole of your stay in Paphos.
The sea averages 23°C, so yes, swimming in November is still comfortable. The water is cooler than in October but keeps enough warmth for a swim. You can combine the beach with sightseeing, keeping the fine-weather hours for the beach. In rainy weather, a day by the water is less pleasant, even though the sea itself is still warm.
02November in Paphos and other towns in Cyprus
Days in Paphos are as warm as in Nicosia and Larnaca. Nights here are warmer than in the capital and the same as in Larnaca. Paphos does, however, get more rain in November than either of those towns.
Compared with Limassol, Paphos is cooler both by day and at night, but it gets less rain. Paphos has warmer days and nights than the Troodos Mountains, and the coast also gets less rain than the mountains.
03What to wear and what to do
For a walk during the day, wear a T-shirt or a shirt, and have a jumper and a light jacket ready for the evening: the difference between the warm days and the cool nights is noticeable. By the harbour you will need something to keep off the wind from the sea. With the November rain, a hooded jacket and closed shoes that can cope with wet paths make sense.
For the beach, pick the sunny part of the day and bring dry clothes to change into after swimming. A towel comes in handy even for a quick dip; the evening is better kept for a walk around town.
Paphos harbour and fort are easy to see in a short break between showers. Allow a longer dry stretch of the day for the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park: November's daytime warmth suits an unhurried look round in the open air.

Climate in Paphos
Paphos has a Mediterranean climate: long dry summers, mild rainy winters and about 395 mm of rain a year. The sea holds on to its summer warmth into the autumn, and the swimming season lasts until November.
What the climate of Paphos is like
Paphos lies on the south-west coast of Cyprus, facing the open sea. Summers here are long, hot and dry, and winters are short and mild, with rain. The town gets 395 mm of rain a year, and it is spread very unevenly. The rainy season runs from October to March, while from June to September there is almost no rain at all. The wettest month is December, with an average of 98 mm. July and August bring the most settled heat.
July days in Paphos are cooler than in Limassol, Larnaca and the capital, Nicosia, further inland. The Troodos Mountains, though, are cooler still in summer, and their winter nights are much colder. Among the coastal towns, Paphos is wetter than Larnaca and Ayia Napa but slightly drier than Limassol. Frost and snow are almost unknown on the coast; the main feature of winter here is the rain.
Sea temperature in Paphos by month
The sea off Paphos warms up more slowly than the land and keeps its stored heat for a long time. The water is coolest in February and March, at around 17°C. The warmest period runs from July to September, when the average water temperature reaches 28°C. The comfortable swimming season, with the water at 21°C or above, lasts from May to November. If long swims are the main point of your holiday, choose midsummer or early autumn.
In spring, a warm sunny day can give the impression that the sea has already warmed up, although the water is still cool. Autumn is different: after sunset the air cools down faster, while the sea stays warm. In October the water averages 26°C, so beach time can be combined with long walks. November is also part of the swimming season, but it already belongs to the rainy part of the year. For a holiday with a swim every day and less chance of rain, September is a better choice.
Paphos weather by season
Winter in Paphos is short and mild, but this is when rain has the biggest effect on daily plans. In January the average is 17°C by day and 9°C at night, so after sunset it is noticeably cooler than in the midday sunshine. A waterproof jacket is useful on damp winter days. In spring the rain gradually eases off and the days get warmer, but the evenings are still cool. March still has more of the rainy season about it, while April and May are much drier. In spring, wear a long-sleeved shirt that you can roll up during the day. As the season goes on, it makes more and more sense to move long outdoor activities to the morning.
Summer weather settles in for a long stretch: the dry period starts in June and lasts into September. The hottest months are July and August; in August the average is 31°C by day and 22°C at night. Evenings bring less relief than in spring, and there is usually no rain to break the heat. In hot weather, wear a light-coloured linen shirt that covers your shoulders. The summer UV index is very high and sometimes extreme, so you need sunscreen and a hat. Leave time around midday to rest in the shade, and do longer walks in the morning.
Autumn starts warm and almost dry, but from October rain becomes a more noticeable part of the weather. Even then the daytime average is 27°C, though nights are already cooler than in summer. By November the contrast between the warm days and the cool evenings is sharper, and there is more rain. A light waterproof windbreaker works well in late autumn. After rain, choose shoes with soles that grip well on wet surfaces.
When to visit and what to see in Paphos
For a beach holiday with long swims, choose summer or early autumn. September is especially good if you want a warm sea without the highest summer daytime temperatures. October gives more scope for mixing beach days with sightseeing, although rain can already change your plans. Aphrodite's Rock, or Petra tou Romiou, fits easily into an autumn programme like this: you can stop to take in the view and combine it with other plans, with no need for a long walking tour. On a hot day, go in the morning and keep the middle of the day for rest.
Spring and autumn are better for a proper look round the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park and the Tombs of the Kings. On the exposed parts of these sites the summer sun makes a long walk hard going, so in the cooler months it is easier to take your time and stop along the way. In spring you can easily give most of the day to the archaeological sites; in autumn you can combine them with a swim. Don't try to cover both sites in the midday heat of a single day; split them into separate morning visits.
Paphos harbour and fort are good for a shorter walk when you don't want to plan a long outing in the open air. In the rainy months, leave more flexibility to reschedule outings like this: a long visit to open-air sites is best timed for the dry part of the day. After rain, stone surfaces can be slippery, so take your time on steps and uneven ground. In winter, don't put the whole walk off until the evening: the warmth of the day is better used for seeing the harbour and fort.
